Jack Drury sets USHL Tier 1 record with 22-game point streak

The United States Hockey League announced the Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 19 of the 2017-18 season. Waterloo Black Hawks forward Jack Drury and Sioux Falls Stampede defenseman Jack St. Ivany earned their first career USHL weekly honors, while Green Bay Gamblers goaltender Maksim Zhukov picked up his fifth career weekly award and third this season. Drury picked up four points in three games over the weekend to extend his point streak to 22 games, setting a new USHL Tier 1 record, St. Ivany helped the Stampede capture five out of a possible six points last week with a goal and three assists and Zhukov led the Gamblers to a three-point weekend, including a 32-save shutout on Saturday. The USHL is America’s only Tier 1 junior hockey league, and continues to lead the world in the advancement of Division I college hockey athletes.

 

Forward: Jack Drury – Waterloo Black Hawks

Drury scored a goal on Tuesday in Waterloo’s victory over the Chicago Steel, added an assist on Jackson Cates‘s overtime goal on Friday in Green Bay and scored two goals, including the game-winner to lead the Black Hawks to a 4-1 victory over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday. With his strong weekend performance, the Harvard commit extended his point streak to 22 games, breaking the all-time USHL Tier 1 (2002-present) record. He has registered at least one point in every game dating back to Nov. 22, bringing his point total to 40 (15G, 25A) through 36 games, placing him seventh among all USHL players and second on the Black Hawks in scoring. Drury has totaled 31 points (14G, 17A) over the course of his historic streak that was previously held by Mike Erickson and Jake Guentzel. Drury has played in 80 games over his two USHL seasons, tallying 52 points (19G, 33A) in those contests. He represented USA Hockey at the Five Ivan Hlinka tournament and World Junior A Challenge tournaments earlier this season and was also named to both the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game and the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Most recently, he was ranked 60th among North American skaters on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings ahead of the 2018 NHL Draft. The Winnetka, IL native  was selected in the second round, 28th overall by Waterloo in the 2016 USHL Phase I Draft and previously played for the Chicago Mission (HPHL).

 

 

Defenseman: Jack St. Ivany – Sioux Falls Stampede

St. Ivany scored his fourth goal of the season in a win over Fargo on Tuesday, dished out two assists in a Friday victory against Lincoln and added his third point of the weekend on Sunday against Omaha, helping Sioux Falls pick up five of a possible six points and moving the Stampede into third place in the Western Conference. The Yale commit currently sits with 26 points (4G, 22A) through 36 games which leads all Sioux Falls defenseman and puts him third among all USHL blueliners in scoring. He is now riding a three-game point streak and has earned at least one point in 11 of his last 17 games going back to Dec. 2. St. Ivany has 36 points (5G, 31A) in his 88 career USHL games and was named to Team USA for the World Junior A Challenge earlier this season as well as both the 2017 and 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. He has also been listed on the NHL Central Scouting Players to Watch List in each of the last two seasons, most recently ranking 129th among North American Skaters on the annual midterm rankings. A native of Manhattan Beach, CA, St. Ivany was selected in the fifth round, 73rd overall by Sioux Falls in the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft and played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings (T1EHL) prior to his time in the USHL.

 

 

Goaltender: Maksim Zhukov – Green Bay Gamblers

1-0-1-0, 1.00 GAA, .968 SV%

 

Zhukov played in both Green Bay games over the weekend and performed well against two of the top teams in the USHL. He stopped 29 of 31 shots on Friday against the Waterloo Black Hawks before recording his third shutout of the season to lead the Gamblers to a 4-0 victory over the Chicago Steel on Saturday. The Vegas Golden Knights prospect now sports a 17-12-0-3 record to go along with a solid 2.38 GAA and .912 SV%. His GAA places him eighth among all USHL goaltenders while his SV% is good for 10th in the league. He is also tied for third in the USHL with his three shutouts. This is fifth time Zhukov has been named Goaltender of the Week in his career, including the third time this season, having previously won the award on Oct. 9 and Nov 27. The uncommitted goaltender is in his second USHL season and registered a 2.25 GAA and .913 SV% in 2016-17 before being selected in the fourth round, 96th overall by Vegas at the 2017 NHL Draft. Prior to his time in the USHL, Zhukov suited up for Lokomotiv-Yaroslavl in Russia.
