The Steamboat Wranglers would like to welcome Parker Wells to the team. Parker comes to the northwest corner of Colorado from Washington, where he played with the Bellingham Blazers in the WSHL. Before that, he played 18U with the Point Mallard Ducks. Although Wells calls Memphis, Tenn., home, he grew up in Seattle, playing for the Seattle Sno-King Jr. Thunderbirds, before briefly moving to Minnesota for a year when he was a Peewee.

Parker is very excited about joining the Steamboat Wranglers. He had heard great things about Coach Ryan Dingle and the Wranglers organization from fellow Memphian and former teammate JJ Landers. “I am extremely happy to be here. Everyone I have met in this town is so friendly. The whole team, the coaches, and everyone associated with the Wranglers have been so welcoming and helpful. That has really helped make my transition here seamless and easier on me. I am super eager to get on the ice and am very much looking forward to being a Steamboat Wrangler.”

Wrangler teammate Sebastian Culver says, “Parker is a tenacious player who comes to the rink ready to give his all for the team, whether during practice or a game. He always has a smile on his face, and is positive both on and off the ice. He’s willing to do whatever he can for the success of the team.”

Steamboat is known for its skiing and deep snow in the winter, but Parker came during a bought of mountain sunshine. “The sun has been shining every day since I got here. That is pretty awesome! Where I came from in Bellingham, Wash., I hardly got to see any sunshine for the past few months, so this is really a welcomed change.”

Parker also is a USA Hockey referee, officiating both youth and adult hockey games for six years. He holds dual citizenship (American and German), and speaks German fluently.

The Steamboat Wranglers are the newest team to join the Western States Hockey League. The WSHL is an Amateur Athletic Union, Tier II Junior “A” hockey league that has been in continuous existence since 1994. The WSHL is the second largest junior hockey league in North America, with 30 teams in 14 states. The Wranglers are part of the Mountain Division of the WSHL.
