Nipigon Elks, Red Lake Miners affiliation

On the heels of the Nipigon Elks announcement of its partnership with the Black Bear Sports Group, the Elks announced today their affiliation with the Red Lake Miners of the Superior International Junior Hockey League. The Miners are defending SIJHL champion and make their first-ever appearance at the CJHL Centennial Cup.

“This local affiliation will prove valuable to us and provide yet another path for our 18U draftees and our returning players,” commented Malcolm Sutherland, Head Coach and General Manager of the Elks.

Elks welcome back veterans, new signings

Standout forward Evan Maslack who led the team in all offensive categories last season, along with Carter Hargreaves have returned. Maslack and Hargreaves round out the Elks top line which includes Jeff McMenemy, who recently signed with the team.

These players are joined by TBMHA standouts and 18U Nipigon graduates Logan Doucete and Brody Stenlund, both defencemen.

The growing off season depth for the Elks are also added to by forward Sawyer Hatton, also from the 18U Nipigon squad and veteran forward Brandon McKinnon. Both McKinnon and Hatton hail from Marathon, Ontario.

Lucas Radbourne, a power forward with impressive size, has signed with the Elks.

Zack Prenger, named LJHL most outstanding goaltender last season, has also committed to return.
