Isanti Outlaws sign pair of prospects

Isanti Outlaws are pleased to announce the signing of Keanu McClanahan for 2022-23. The 16-year old got his first taste of Junior hockey last season with the Mallards scoring four goals in 21 USPHL games while adding three assists. He also played with the Northeast Generals AAA program in the fall and spring.

“I’m pumped to be heading back to Isanti,” said McClanahan. “I love the people and the town’s energy when it comes to their hockey team. Looking forward to getting back to work and turning some heads this season. We have some pretty good players coming back so far which will be great to reconnect with them along with the newcomers.”

“We are excited to have Keanu back on board for the upcoming season,” commented coach Don Babineau. “He is an ’05 with 19 games of junior hockey under his belt. A very promising young player that comes from some very highly respected AAA programs. I feel he could put up some respectful stats this season and get some attention from higher level coaches. It’s always great to see players that want to play for their town team. He has bought into our development plan for the season and looks to take his game to the next level this year. We look for big things from Keanu this season.”

Isanti Outlaws signed a ‘big’ prospect recently in defenseman David Saulle. At 6’2″ the former captain of the Alton (Illinois) High School Redbirds is a big presence on the ice. Just as impressive, off the ice he’s a member of the National Honor Society.

“David is a big pickup for us,” said head coach Don Babineau. “He is a solid stay at home defense that works the corners pretty well. He has been putting in the extra time on and off the ice which will help him right from the start. He will be new to juniors and no doubt exceed his personal goals along with our team goals. As a captain of his high school team he understands the leadership role and leads by example. We look forward to big things from David this season.”

Saulle was the lone representative of Alton High is the 2022 Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association All-Star Game in February.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Isanti Outlaw organization,” commented Saulle. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the community support. Looking forward to playing for Coach Babineau and the goals we have set together. My mission is to play college hockey and he knows what it takes to get there as he has a history of getting players to the next point of their hockey career. Should be a fun season”
