Hunter Breza named Isanti Outlaws assistant coach

Isanti Outlaws are pleased to announce the hiring of Hunter Breza as new assistant coach. Hailing from Minnetrista, Minnesota, Breza has a lifetime of experience in hockey.

The 26-year old played his prep hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary’s before beginning his Junior career in the Canadian Junior Hockey League. Breza played with both the Humboldt Broncos (SJHL) and Neepawa Natives (MJHL) in 2014-15 before finishing with the La Crosse Freeze (NA3HL).

Breza joins the coaching staff under veteran head coach Don Babineau. He begins immediately, assisting in recruiting for the 2022-23 season.

“Don [Babineau] was the reason the Isanti assistant coach job was so Intriguing to me not only his experience in junior hockey, but the way he has mentored his assistant coaches in the past,” said Breza. “I’m very excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to put a good, fun, fast paced hockey team on the ice for the people of Isanti.”

Coach Babineau is happy to have Breza on board saying, “We are pleased to have Hunter on our staff for the upcoming season as an assistant coach. He is a motivated, young, hard working coach. He understands the recruiting side and has the ambition to be a head coach one day.  He has a year of coaching under his belt at the junior level so that will help him transition to Isanti.”

Breza spent last season in San Diego as an assistant coach with the Sabers.

“He wants to see how far this hockey thing can take him. He has the passion we are looking for in not only our players, but our staff members as well. He has played at the Junior A level and has been coached by some pretty good coaches during his playing time.”
