CIJHL: Walnut Grove Wolverines hire Krzysztof Oliwa as Head Coach and General Manager

The Walnut Grove Wolverines Junior Hockey Franchise of the Canadian Independent Junior Hockey League is proud to announce the signing of their first Head Coach and General Manager – Krzysztof Oliwa.

Coach Oliwa was the 65th choice overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, during his career he played with the New Jersey Devils, Columbus Blue Jackets, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Rangers, and the Calgary Flames. He won a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 2000, and was part of the Calgary Flames 2003-04 Stanley Cup Playoff run, and often remarks that their heartbreaking Game 7 loss is just as much a part of his intensity as winning the Cup with the Devils.

As a coach, Oliwa brings the type of unwavering commitment, nonstop intensity, and belief in the impossible that enabled him to reach his own dreams. Working closely with players, their families, and his extensive network of professional hockey contacts, he brings a professional-grade approach to training, both on and off the ice. He believes that, just as he did, his players can achieve the impossible. It’s not about tomorrow or next week, it’s about reaching that next level today through hard work, dedication, and intensity.

His most recent coaching experience was at the Tier 1 Elite Level where he worked with a 16U AAA National team, and demonstrated the effectiveness of his comprehensive coaching style by bringing the NJ Colonials to an impressive finish. He has been instrumental in helping his personal coaching clients as young as 15 and 16 years of age to secure NCAA Division 1 college commitments and elite prep school placements

A product of his own personal coaching legacy, Oliwa has been molded by game greats, including Robbie Ftorek, John Cuniff, Red Gendron, Jacques Lemaire, Larry Robinson, Dave King, Ivan Hlinka, Bryan Trottier and Darryl Sutter, who collectively hold a phenomenal 38 rings.
It is clear that the Wolverines are in good hands to guide their development from the get go.
