Butte Cobras trio earn opportunity in NAHL

The Butte Cobras roster will have a different look this Friday when the team travels to Helena to face the Bighorns. Three prospects have earned the call-up to the North American Hockey League with the Maine Nordiques.

Nick Bradshaw, Luke Schleusner and Cade Wessman have all made the trip east to Lewiston and have been practicing with the Nordiques this week. The trio could make their NAHL debut at The Colisée this weekend when Maine play host to the Johnstown Tomahawks.

“Bradshaw, Schleusner, and Wessman have been outstanding for us this season,” commented head coach Kirk Golden. “They are all great hockey players and high character guys. Our NAHL affiliate, the Maine Nordiques, have taken notice of their superb play. The three skaters have earned this opportunity and we couldn’t be happier for them.”

Tied for seventh among all NA3HL scorers Bradshaw (33 goals, 25 assists) and Wessman (11 goals, 47 assists) along with their linemate Schleusner (27 goals, 29 assists) have lit the goal light around the Frontier Division all season long. All three are among the top 10 in league scoring leaders.

A native of Jefferson, South Dakota, Bradshaw is in his third season with the Cobras. He has seen his point totals increase each year. After a 22-point rookie season Bradshaw scored 15 goals and 34 points in 2019-20. His 33 goals scored this season is second of all NA3HL scorers.

Currently in his second season with the Cobras 19-year old Schleusner has developed into a solid all-around player.

The lone rookie among the group, Wessman has been the playmaker of the group. His 47 assists are the second most in the NA3HL. He was a four-year varsity player at Osseo (Minnesota) High School before signing with Butte last summer.
